Trial period for sellers

Trial period for sellers is an add-on that brings trial terms to standard vendor plans. An administrator sets a temporary plan price, transaction commission, and duration in days; these terms apply to new seller applications.

Marketplaces can lower the initial plan price or commission for new sellers without changing standard terms for existing sellers. This lets you test a softer onboarding offer while controlling plan revenue.

How it works:

• configure a trial for each vendor plan separately
• set a temporary plan price
• set a temporary transaction fee with a percentage and fixed amount
• set the trial duration in days
• a value of 0 means the temporary terms have no expiration
• apply the trial only to new seller applications
• each seller can receive a trial only once
• existing sellers do not get a new trial simply by switching plans

The add-on stores a snapshot of each seller’s trial terms. Later changes to the plan’s trial settings do not retroactively change terms already granted to sellers.

The trial starts when the seller is activated, not when the administrator saves the plan. With manually reviewed applications, waiting for activation does not use up the trial.
